The Cultural Heritage Sites march,13,2022
For the 5th times in a raw Hagergna Tour Club of SMU prepared a trip for the students the most exciting event which was trip to 3 destination, those destinations were the well known inscribed on UNESCO Tiya prehistoric monument, ayange cave and hare sheitan lake.
at this trip we try to downgrade the number of students to 25 to make it easy to manage as we get an advise from the previous trip.
.
Our first stop was the ancient monument in Tiya. Of the about 160 archaeological sites that have been found so far in the Soddo area, south of Addis Abeba, Tiya is one of the most significant. There are 36 monuments at the site, including 32 carved stelae covered with symbols, the majority of which are illegible. They are the relics of an ancient Ethiopian civilization, the age of which is not yet known with certainty
After tiya, our next visit was Lake Hare Sheitan (Devil's Lake), which is a circular crater lake with a rim that rises around 150m above the deep-green waters. It is located approximately 9 km south of Butajira. it a beautiful and photogenic place we have a good adventure time, we try to get down near to the lake to have a great view it was so dangerous but it was worth it.
Our last stop was ayange cave which is also a mosque,To reach the home cave, walk along the left side of the crater and follow a road to the Northeast. Follow a 1,000-ft trail to a circle-shaped forested ravine with bird sounds. Be prepared to be accompanied by a guide or have Amharic conversation skills. Ahmed, the owner, is rumored to have over 30 kids and family members. Bring a small donation or a gift if uncomfortable. Outside, there is a 200-ft deep hole housing thousands of birds.
