20,sep,2022 Meskel Celebration In Gurage
Ethiopia is a well known country in having festivals that are celebrated in different way, in this case some of them have given title by UNESCO. from on of the famous festival is finding of cross (meskel).
The Meskel celebrations in Gurage communities goes for up to two weeks as it is a major even to bring together family members and friends to share a good moment in their lives. Most trek to the region they all call home - the fertile, semi-mountainous region in southwest Ethiopia, and my friend also invite me to celebrate meskel with and his families.
as a tourism i don't want to waste such kind of chances to pass me especially the festival of meskel from the typical place so i grab my bag and follow him to gurage zone.
we head to the city of wolkitte which is 158km far from Addis Ababa, then after we get there we stopped to have lunch and coffee, after a few minutes we start our journey to my friend's family home land kossie.
The little town kossie was so crowded by a people who were preparing for the celebration of meskel but even at they are tied up by work they dont forget how to serve there guests. 
one week before the celebration mothers will go out for shopping to buy. mostly people buy butter and coffee which is a traditional thing in the community of gurage people
after celebrating the main festival at the church everyone will go back to there house and gather near to there neighbors and elders will give there blessing for a good luck and firing the wood will procced with a big dancing a singing of the youngsters.
they have different culture which is similar with buhe but this one is called 'fullit' and it will be in the midnight all the young boys will collect money by singing door to door.
